"Parting is such sweet sorrow"
Can this really be it? We are with our wonderful friends and family
saying good-byes for our last time before leaving for Africa.
It is said that in Africa when a child is born a mother goes into the bush with close friends
and do not return until they "hear" your song--a song that represents you and which is sung
at every important celebration of your life. If you lose your way in life, the community
surrounds you and sings your song to remind you who you really are. This represents the
youth in our church surrounding us with love and singing our very own song.
Saying good bye to our grandkids will be our greatest challenge.
Tomorrow, Monday May 30th begins our great adventure getting training at the MTC
for one week. I'm afraid its a little bit like being freshmen at college without the
brain matter in full force, but we do have each other and that makes it so much fun!
Wow, what an adventure you are off on. We will keep you and all your family you are leaving today in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks for all you have done for our family...we will miss your bright and happy faces here in Utah, but know the people of Africa will be truly blessed to have the Hartmans in their lives. All our love, heaped up, pressed down, and running over...SLY, Mary and the Nothum Sorenson's
